Meta Ads in Tunisia: 7 mistakes that burn your budget
Boosting a post is not a strategy. These are the mistakes we fix most often in Tunisian ad accounts, and how to avoid them.

Facebook and Instagram remain the most widely used advertising channels for Tunisian businesses. The entry cost is low and the audience is huge… which is exactly why it is so easy to waste money. Whenever we audit an ad account, we find the same mistakes again and again.
1. Relying on the “Boost” button
The “Boost post” button is convenient but offers little control: limited objectives, basic targeting, no structured testing. Using Ads Manager gives you the right objectives, placements, A/B tests and reports you can actually act on.
2. Picking the wrong objective
If you want sales, do not optimise for engagement. Meta’s algorithm does exactly what you ask: it will find people who like to tap “Like”, not necessarily people who buy. Always align the campaign objective with the business result you expect.
3. Launching without a Pixel or conversion tracking
Without a properly installed Meta Pixel — ideally backed by the Conversions API — you are flying blind. You cannot tell which ad drives orders, and the algorithm cannot learn. This is the first thing to fix, before you even think about raising the budget.
4. Targeting too broad… or too narrow
“All of Tunisia, ages 18–65” dilutes your budget. On the other hand, stacking ten very specific interests shrinks the audience so much that costs soar. The right balance depends on your product, your delivery area and the quality of your conversion data.
5. Ignoring language and tone
The same message does not land the same way in French, Arabic or Tunisian darija. Depending on your audience, a darija hook can perform far better than corporate copy. Test several versions instead of assuming.
6. Never refreshing creatives
An audience that sees the same image for weeks eventually tunes it out: frequency climbs and performance drops. Plan a refresh rhythm and favour vertical and video formats, which dominate on mobile.
7. Judging too soon… or too late
Killing a campaign after 24 hours does not give the algorithm time to learn. Letting it run for three months without analysis costs even more. Set your key metrics and review schedule in advance.
Pre-launch checklist

- Campaign objective aligned with your real goal
- At least two or three different creatives to test
- Fast, mobile-friendly landing page with a clear call to action
- Visible contact options: WhatsApp, Messenger, phone
- Success metrics defined: cost per order, cost per lead
